How do you prevent shower curtains from getting mildew?

We have been using the clear vinyl curtains and they always get black at the bottom edge after a few months...they are cheap but I don't want to replace them and be so wasteful.
I know you don't want to waste them but they do sell rubberized shower curtains that resist mold and mildew. I bought one last year and it's fine and it works great and still looks good. I can't believe it never gets moldy! You can try a finer department store to find them like maybe JC Penny. You will be happy you made the switch!

There is NO prevention , where there is dampness / humidity / water . . . mold and mildew will come.
Instead of vinyl , get the fabric ones that can be washed . . . or
If you want to keep the vinyl , wipe it down once a week with bleach.

Vinyl shower curtains can be washed and I would put a little bleach in the washer and about 1/2 the soap do not put in dryer hang back in bathroom to dry perfect every time

If you can use bleach , that will take the mildew away, Not having much air in the bathroom, and most of the time its moist, will cause this. When you finish taking a shower, Spray bleach & water on the bottom of the shower curtain,that’s the only way I know that will help it.You can also use, a mildew cleaner from the supermarket, if bleach is not good for the curtain.

this is hard, you have to get rid of the moist air in the room . try getting a bigger cfm fan have set up on a timer.
also a little tid bit try to keep the shower curtian above the bottom of the shower/tub floor this helps alot.

Buy a shower liner that will not mildew. Leave curtain open so that it can dry. Spray with mildew remover at least once a week.

I leave mine full across the shower while it dries and I don’t have a problem. The problem is when its folded up and can’t dry properly. When I clean my shower and tub I clean the curtain two.
Oh yes, and when ever possible I shower with the bathroom door open or ajar to keep the bathroom from getting to wet with humidity.
I haven’t had a mildew problem in a LONG time!

You have to throw it back over the rail so that it’s folded in half then you spread it out so that it’s closed but looks like half a shower curtain.
Store it like that and only let it down when you take a shower.
Keep the bathroom window open until all the moisture is out of the room.
